It needs a detail, and boy, it’s hard to get a good picture of the color.

I was close. I went on 4 test drives of different Wranglers.  The desire to leave budget for an eventual project vehicle won out. A third row is something my wife preferred as well.

My initial goal was a red one, I’ve seen them all over the place since I picked up this one, though. I’m quite happy with my choice.

gorgeous dark blue

In Florida, Georgia, and Alabama, vehicle owners foolishly keep dealer decals, plastic badges, and plate frames on their vehicles forever.

We were tempted by the red Tacoma as well, seeing it in the direct sun was good- it was too much red..

After your previous post I legitimately got to thinking this is what I need in my life, and I went and specced one out and ended up with your same color (but the sand interior). I guess I’d never really given the 4Runner much thought for some reason. Would definitely be a nice ownership experience. But I’m too seduced by german metal.

N ow I’m also noticing there’s a *shitton* of 4R unners in San Francisco. It’s wild.

Thanks, I think this one is a keeper! For a few years, at least. Ha!

I was ashamed it was on there for a couple of days before I noticed it!

No shortage of Tacos or 4Runners here. So far, I’m really liking it, although I’m starting to second guess my color choice. Not because of looks, but because of maintenance. Oh well, I’m well versed in dark color car ownership!

Can you post a photo of what the third row looks like? My sister has a 2018, black sr5 premium without third row or the running board. Would like to see what it looks like up close. Thanks!

Sure, I’ll snap a pic tomorrow. My son wants to try it out. He sat back there on the test drive and liked it.

Thanks! I didn’t realize a third row was even an option. Is it tiny or how old is your son?

My son is almost 9. The issue with the third row is headroom. Legroom is tight, of course, but the second row is adjustable, and can give more legroom to the third row. I haven’t had my wife climb back there yet (she’s 5’2”) to see how it works for her. I’d be willing to bet  she’d be ok. I’m 6’4”, so I’d need to be decapitated to fit. I did pretzel myself back there, though.

You can get the third row in the SR5, SR5 premium, and Limited.

Thanks again. Enjoy the suv. It’s really great. I would have one if not for the mileage, which scares me a bit. I have about a 18 mile commute, each way.

The 3rd row, even though it’s tiny, really does make these versatile. We have an MDX, and it so nice to be able to fit all 3 kids and a set of grand parents or a friend or two.

Agreed! We’ve also discovered have an even amount of kids for an event works out much better than an odd amount. Now we’ll have a vehicle to stuff an extra kid in when needed.

Congrats on the purchase!!

I snagged mine Oct 1st, went it to check it out and could not believe how much I liked it. Always liked they way they look, but after driving it I was sold. Pictured above is my first mod (tires)

That blue is gorgeous...

Congrats, that’s a great looking rig! Wheels/tires will be my first real mod (floor mats don’t count, ha).

When I first drove one a couple of months ago, I liked it well enough. My impression was that it was similar to my Tacoma, but just more comfortable in nearly every way. The more I though about it, that was a very good thing. So after driving one again, I pulled the trigger. This last round of car shopping was the most test driving I’ve ever done.

Did I miss the photo? Not sure I saw it yet.

Which car is better all around? The Jeep GC or your 4Runner? They are both on my list. The Jeep GC reliability scares me a little.

I haven’t pulled it out yet this morning. :) I’m going to wash it in about an hour or so, I’ll snap some pics then.

My wife’s Jeep has been great, we’ve had 5 trouble free years with it. Granted, we’ve only put 25k on it in 5 years. I prefer the 4Runner for me. I’m usually a passenger in the Jeep, and the passenger footwell forces my feet over quite a bit to the right. I can never seem to get comfortable for any length of time. Driving comfort is much better. The 4Runner passenger foot well doesn’t have the odd shape.

With a sunroof, the Jeep has more headroom, but I still fit in the 4Runner fine. Other creature comforts, the Jeeps seats are heated and ventilated (heat only on the 4Runner). Back seats have heat in the Jeep, not available in the 4Runner. I find Toyota’s Entune easy to use, but so is UConnect in the Jeep.

My wife says the Jeep is more girl, and the 4Runner is more boy, for whatever that’s worth. Ha. Hers is also the Overland, and was $8k more than mine, so I don’t have a good model to model comparison. I will say that I’m not missing anything the Jeep has extra over the Toyota.
